Stroma
Recorded 9 years agoCatherine Byrne describes what seems to be an idyllic childhood, growing up on the island of Stroma in the Pentland Firth. She talks about her family and the self-sufficient lifestyle of the islanders and how they dealt with challenging situations such as 'Operation Snowdrop' in 1955 and the hot summer when the well dried up. She describes moving to the mainland and the experience of moving from a class of four children to a class of forty. Catherine also describes the inspiration for her first novel.
