Nancy Swanson (née Anderson) recalls fond memories of Wick North School, describing teachers, pupils and special visitors. In particular, she describes how Mr Nicolson imparted his love of astronomy, wild flowers and nature to his many pupils. She explains how local residents had to spread cinders in a huge circle on the ground, in preparation for the landing of helicopters during ‘operation snowdrop’ and she recalls how her neighbour disappeared into a snowdrift in the playground.
