About this recording

While researching his family history Donald Harper became aware that he could find little information about the daily lives of his ancestors therefore he decided to record his own reminiscences of growing up in Wick during the Second World War. He describes in detail the house in which he grew up, his school days and some of the exploits he and his friends experienced. In particular, he recalls air raid warnings, visits to the cinema and trips to Dunbeath and Lybster.
