Lockdown Reflections - Caithness Community Resilience
Recorded 6 years ago"Its been a massive operation. All these groups have done such a great job to support our communities,” claims Allan Tait, senior development officer at Caithness Voluntary Group. As Allan reflects upon the Covid-19 lockdown he explains how he and his team at CVG co-ordinated the amazing effort of groups within the 12 community council areas of Caithness, to support the vulnerable and shielded within the area. Arrangements have been made to access funding, deliver cooked meals, collect prescriptions, deliver shopping and activity boxes as well as information leaflets.
He explains that through weekly Zoom meetings groups supported each other, shared good practice and ensured the safety of volunteers as well as vulnerable members of the community.
Although the resilience effort is now well established, Allan explains that as we move into the next challenging phase, members of the community will continue to need support but recent efforts have shown that Caithness can indeed work together.
