The Strike
Recorded 9 years agoHarry Gray describes his involvement when the herring gutters went on strike in 1947/48, when he was only ten years old. He was charged with the task of being 'look-out' and he had to report to his mother when the boat Fisher Boy appeared in Wick Bay. Strike action resulted in the herring gutters each being paid the princely sum of 6d per barrel.
