Lyn Morrison came to live in Caithness when she was 10 years old but now looks upon the County as her adopted home. She talks about living in Thrumster Schoolhouse for a short time before moving to the newly built houses at Haster. Here she talks about accompanying her parents on shopping trips, before there were supermarkets in Wick. She recalls the days before central heating, fridges and washing machines and how she helped her Mum with washing clothes in a double sink, with a wringer to squeeze the water out. She reflects upon the days when there were no ATMs and how she and her husband had no means of cashing a cheque therefore they searched until they found enough cash to pay for two tickets to the cinema but they only had enough left over to buy one ice-cream which they subsequently had to share.
