Geordie took the hurley to extremes
Recorded 6 years agoRobert Sutherland shares some further memories of growing up in Murchison Street and recalls how his enterprising and inventive friend Geordie Durrand had a particular knack for constructing hurleys. Geordie was, he says, the neighbourhood’s version of the Stig from Top Gear.
Robert also reminisces about the time the pair of them built a shed in Geordie’s back garden, only to be told in no uncertain terms to dismantle it.
Robert spent 31 years in the police force and has lived in Thurso for over 25 years. This is one of several recordings he has made for Wick Voices.
